Work has started on the second phase of the regeneration of the troubled amusement park, Dreamland.
The £1.8m restoration of the former Sunshine Cafe and cinema entrance foyer at the site in Margate is going ahead despite debts of more than £14m.
The Kent attraction, which has a number of vintage fairground rides, went into administration in May but remains open.
The next phase of work is being funded by a Coastal Communities Fund grant which Thanet council secured in 2014.
Operator Sands Heritage called in administrators in May, 11 months after the park reopened following an £18m restoration.
